Pomegranates, a fruit native to West and Central Asia, is rich in mythology and symbolism. Most known to those of us in the Western world, is the story of Hades and Persephone. In this myth, after being stolen away from her mother by Hades' with Zeus' permission, Persephone eats six pomegranate seeds that bind her to the Underworld. They are also believed to be eaten by Eve in the Garden of Good and Evil.
In Iran, they are eaten during Nowruz and Yalda. Pomegranate motifs are commonly found from all over the Mediterranean, the Caucasus region, North Africa, Central Asia, and India. They're also found in Romani culture.
Pomegranates are commonly associated with fertility, life, faith, rebirth, and abundance. Its juice can be used as substitute for blood.
Made from local beeswax from Haw Creek Honey Asheville and liquid candle dye. No scent. Clean smelling.
