Garlic Honey...the best medicine to have in the kitchen

Garlic Honey...the best medicine to have in the kitchen

Garlic and honey. Two of my most favorite foods in the kitchen. This simple remedy gives us such flavor but is full of medicine. Let's get into this magickal mixture.

Honey. Full of Sun energy. Farmers markets are busting out the beekeepers and their honey right now. Honey brings the energy of air, along with purification, wisdom, sweetness, love, happiness and community. Honey has been gathered by humans for thousands and thousands of years. With so many uses such as medicine, food, and even an amazing and healthy brew called mead, this beautiful food made by the bees could be considered divine. Food of the Gods. Plus, I would also like to believe it gives us a touch of immortality because it keeps forever. I love love using honey in my kitchen witch practice. Anytime I feel a little sweetness needs to be added I will add a drop to the food I am cooking. Someone angry and really having a hard day? I make a piece of buttered toast with a drizzle of honey. It is grounding and sweet. Such good medicine. The bees take such good care of us. We need to take such good care of them.

Garlic. Filled with Mars and fire energy. I work with lots of garlic in my business. She is quite the protector. She creates a barrier against anything that can do harm to us as well as expelling anything that causes harm. She reverses hexes, stops gossip, and grounds those that include her in their diet. Plus, she is incredibly tasty. She aids in digestion and respiratory ailments and also helps with high cholesterol and can help regulate blood sugar. Every witch needs this food in their kitchen AT ALL TIMES!

Add them together and you create this full of energy sweet boundary that can protect and heal and give us long life! She is pure magick. Pure magick of community and taking care of each other. Make this garlic infused honey to keep on hand throughout the cooler months.

Garlic Infused Honey Recipe

Ingredients:

garlic, peeled and chopped (as much as you want)

local, raw honey

glass jar and lid

Directions:

Chop peeled garlic well, allow to sit on the cutting board a few minutes. Add to your jar. Cover garlic with honey. I typically fill half way, stir it well, then add the rest of the honey to fill the jar. Place lid on. Don't hold back with the garlic!

So, here is the deal with this honey. You will need to open your honey every day to "burp" it much like a fermentation. Some cloves of garlic do not contain as much moisture as others. They are all different depending on when they were harvested and how long they have been sitting out. So, to play it safe we burp that jar so we have no surprise messes. Leave on your counter so you can keep an eye on it. The garlic will rise to the top of the honey at first, but when they start dropping to the bottom of your jar it is time to place the honey and garlic mixture in the fridge. The honey becomes more like a syrup.

I love having this honey available. It will last a few months in the fridge. Use it when you feel a sore throat is coming on, a cold is creeping in, for a stubborn cough, a wound, a burn, anoint a candle when you are creating a boundary, add to a dish for a sick friend or community gathering, or if you need a serious intention to last strong and steady use this mixture in your magickal work. This mixture brings us together but can also protect us from things that will do us harm. I use this mixture alot when I am dealing with my children. I love them terribly but as they are all turning into adults, boundaries must be set with serious tough love!

I keep this on hand year long.

Let me know how you use it!

Thank a bee next time you see one for their beautiful gift they make!
